Adopt NUCA

Mixed Breed · Male

NEEDS permanent foster care PERMANENTLY Nuca came from a farm where she and 32 other Brittany Spaniels lived, used for hunting or beauty contests. Nuca herself participated in international and national beauty contests, but the farm was sold, and her owner had to rehouse them in other places. We took her in along with Xara and Xira. She is a calm, sociable, fearless Brittany Spaniel who needs a permanent foster home where she can be comfortable and not confined to a cage. We request permanent foster care because we know no one will want to adopt her; it would be a true miracle if that happened. She is sociable with other dogs, so she can live with other dogs in the same household or as a single dog in a family. She is a cheerful, sociable, and noble little girl. She is affectionate with everyone she knows, and with children, she is good. She can live in an apartment or in a home with an outdoor area. She is of medium size and has semi-long fur. She is blind in one eye, and she has lumps in her mammary glands; as she is so old, it would be difficult to operate on her, and it wouldn't extend her life. Would you consider taking her in? I want to meet NUCA WHAT DOES SHE NEED? She does not need a foster care home. MADRINOS AND PATRONOS: She needs sponsors. Currently, she has none. Would you like to sponsor her? What does sponsoring a dog entail?. Not suitable for homes with other dogs.

¿Te animas a acogerla? Quiero conocer a NUCA ¿Qué necesita? Necesita una Familia No necesita una casa de acogida. MADRINAS Y PADRINOS: Necesita madrinas o padrinos. Actualmente no tiene. Quiero apadrinarle ¿En qué consiste apadrinar a un perro? About NUCA

What life with NUCA looks like

NUCA is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Adopta en los Abedules in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting NUCA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about NUCA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Adopta en los Abedules handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw NUCA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt NUCA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Adopta en los Abedules will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is NUCA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if NUCA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Adopta en los Abedules early rather than rehoming privately; they know NUCA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
