Nutoka

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Nutoka is a friendly bunnit who came to us as a found animal, and thus there is no information about his background. He shows himself at the animal shelter as a nice and calm little bunny, carefully exploring his surroundings. As social animals that should not be kept alone, Nutoka is looking for a home where he can live together with at least one compatible fellow animal after his pending castration. A social bunny friend or a group of bunnies would give him the opportunity to exhibit typical bunny behavior and maintain social contacts. For his new home, Nutoka wishes a spacious, species-appropriate hutch with plenty of room to hop, run, and explore. It is also important to have various retreat and resting areas where he can relax. Hiding spots, tunnels, and other enrichment options contribute to him feeling safe and having sufficient variety in his daily life. A species-appropriate diet is particularly important for Nutok's well-being. High-quality hay should be available to him at all times. In addition, he needs fresh green fodder and appropriate fresh food such as various herbs, leafy greens, and other rabbit-appropriate plants. Fresh water must of course be always accessible. Nutoka is looking for people who will meet him with patience and understanding and offer him a permanent home where his needs as a bunny are considered. Anyone who wants to provide a friendly little bunnit with a species-appropriate life with plenty of space, company, and care after his castration could find a suitable new roommate in Nutoka.

DE·Show original

About Nutoka

What life with Nutoka looks like

Nutoka is a large adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierschutzverein Dormagen e.V. in Dormagen.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nutoka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nutoka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dormagen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nutoka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nutoka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dormagen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nutoka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nutoka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dormagen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nutoka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
