Adopt Nymphensittich

Mixed Breed · Male

For adoption! I have a rooster who is approximately 2 years old. He lives here with 3 other Nymphis in a large aviary (indoors) plus 24/7 free flight. I have to sadly part ways with him before I have to give all of them up... he has been very loud for weeks, calling, shouting, singing, etc. I don't know if he's unhappy or what exactly, but he has unfortunately started to become so loud that the neighbors in the houses next door have complained.. I say it as is, because you do need to know what you're getting into. Maybe this isn't the right home for him 😞 maybe someone has a place in a large aviary with a flock where the little loudmouth won't stand out. His name is Coconut and he IS NOT tame. He is curious, but if you get too close, he will peck you.

Abzugeben !

About Nymphensittich

What life with Nymphensittich looks like

Nymphensittich is a large adult mixed breed bird waiting at Federnhilfe in Germany.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nymphensittich, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nymphensittich?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Federnhilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nymphensittich on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nymphensittich if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Federnhilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nymphensittich already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nymphensittich isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Federnhilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nymphensittich and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
