Nyx

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 10 years

Meet little miss Nyx! Nyx has had a longer journey with us at Battersea and has shown us that she finds the cattery environment rather worrying. As such, she has gone to live with a dedicated foster carer who has shown when provided with patience and space, and opportunities to interact on her own terms, how wonderful of a companion Nyx can be! Nyx spends a lot of time following her foster carer around the home and seeking attention when she chooses it. She also enjoys being brushed, which will be a good way to bond with her. Nyx is a girl who knows what she likes, and there's nothing more she enjoys than being in the company of her favourite people. Need a work buddy to assist you with your emails or a sofa buddy to binge watch films and movies with? Then Nyx is your girl! As she's had a lot of upheaval in recent years, she'd appreciate a calmer, more settled home with adults and teenagers who can respect her boundaries and read her body language. Nyx is very communicative and has clear signs when something is causing her discomfort. And like most cats, she enjoys a predictable routine! Nyx requires access to a private garden. Cat-flap access would be great for giving her full choice and control over her environment, however for a quiet home with very minimal leave time we may consider manual access. Nyx has shown she does not like other cats and has been known to fight over territory, therefore a home without a high cat-population would be most suitable. As Nyx is on foster, any potential owners would be introduced to her at the foster carers home alongside Battersea staff. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Nyx, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. e cat you have contacted us about.

About Nyx

What life with Nyx looks like

Nyx is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Requires cat-flap access to private garden, needs patient and quiet home environment

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nyx, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nyx?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nyx on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nyx if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nyx already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nyx isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nyx and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
