Adopt Obi

Doberman · Male · Adult · 5 years

Obi is a handsome 5-year-old cropped and docked male who offers the perfect blend of a confident, well-trained companion and a fun-loving friend. Boasting excellent manners and a great response to commands, he is ready to settle into his forever home. Obi is a friendly, steady boy who loves to please his handler. He absolutely loves his food and his balls, making him incredibly engaging to interact with and a joy to handle. Obi has a wonderful demeanor but needs a household that aligns with his background: With Other Dogs: Obi has never lived with another dog. While he didn’t directly encounter other dogs during his walk assessment, his exceptional lead manners and baseline obedience suggest he has great potential around them. Please note that he may bark back if another dog barks at him first. With Children: He has no prior history of living with children. However, due to his calm nature, we believe he could happily live with older, dog-savvy teenagers aged 15 and over who will respect his boundaries. With Cats: Obi is not accustomed to cats, so a cat-free home is required. While Obi thoroughly enjoys going for runs, he is currently a bit overweight. He is currently on a routine of gentle walks to safely build his stamina and help him trim down. Obi is Brucella negative, and a certificate will be provided to his new owner to share with their veterinarian. Could you be Obi’s perfect match? If you are looking for a loyal, well-mannered companion to share cuddles, ball games, and steady walks with, Obi is waiting for you. Please fill out an application form.

About Obi

What life with Obi looks like

Obi is a adult doberman dog waiting at Dobermann Rescue UK & Europe in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Obi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Obi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dobermann Rescue UK & Europe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Obi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Obi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dobermann Rescue UK & Europe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Obi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Obi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dobermann Rescue UK & Europe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Obi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
