Ócsai Joyi

Male · Senior · 12 years

Joyi is an older dog who unfortunately lost his beloved owners and now longs for a new home. He has lived in a cottage since birth, but spent the majority of his days indoors, making him completely housebroken and accustomed to the house. Since he has never been on a walk, this is a new experience for him, but he will likely adapt quickly. Like many older dogs, he has his own special habits. He is basically sweet and friendly, but if he is not in the mood for petting or lifting, he may startle and react in a way that suits him. A patient and understanding owner is sought, preferably one who lives in a quiet environment without children. He gets along very well with other dogs and is not dominant. He loves it when his puppies are petted, and he quickly warms to those who pamper him with fine fabrics. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

HU·Show original

About Ócsai Joyi

What life with Ócsai Joyi looks like

Ócsai Joyi is a small senior dog waiting at Szent Ferenc Állatotthon.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ócsai Joyi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ócsai Joyi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Szent Ferenc Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ócsai Joyi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ócsai Joyi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Szent Ferenc Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ócsai Joyi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ócsai Joyi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Szent Ferenc Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ócsai Joyi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
