Adopt Odi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born around April 2025. Gender: male. Neutered: yes. Character: friendly, somewhat unsure. Size: about 54 cm. In shelter since: September 2025. Hello... I am Odi. I am a young dog boy - full of longing to be seen. Recently everything was different. I roamed the streets, looking for food and a safe place. Then people came who caught me. In an instant, my life changed - and I didn't understand why. Suddenly I was in a small cage, surrounded by unfamiliar sounds, unfamiliar smells and unfamiliar looks. I was so scared that I didn't even dare to look at the people. I just pressed myself into the corner and hoped to be invisible. A few days later they brought me to the other new arrivals. They were all unsettled, many barked out of fear. But even there I couldn't find peace. I crawled behind my dog bed, I just didn't want to be seen. It took days before I dared to sit up straight and observe my surroundings a little. It's hard for me. Not all the dogs here like me. I don't know how to deal with them, so I usually lie alone, away from everyone. In my small heart, the desire to belong is great - but even greater is the uncertainty. I'm still so young. I should be carefree, play, discover the world. But there's no space for that here in the shelter. Here there is food and a bit of security - but little love, little closeness. And that's what I need so much: a family that loves me, gives me a warm dog bed and shows me that I'm not alone. Please don't let me live here where so little love remains. I wish for people who give me time to learn trust. People who see the potential for a happy dog life in my uncertain gaze. I promise, I will open my heart wide for you - if I first understand that you will stay forever. Yours Odi interested? If you are interested in Odi, please fill out our application form () or email us at or send us a message via Facebook. Odi is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed and have an EU passport. Furthermore, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is carried out for dogs over 12 months before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship of Odi has been taken over by Sibylle H., thus ensuring a filled bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Odi

What life with Odi looks like

Odi is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
