Adopt Odie

Labrador Retriever · Female · Adult · 7 years

Type/Breed: Labrador (non LOF) Age: Born on 23/01/2019 Microchip Number: 250269811501449 History: Odie was a gift for a child. A few months later, her family decided to put her in the shelter. However, a family friend, eager to find her a new home himself, retrieved her. Odie, being highly attached, made this mission more complicated than expected. So, he preferred to entrust her to us. After her first adoption, Odie returned due to her adopter's health issues. Character: Odie is a very lively dog, full of energy and very affectionate. She will need to be stimulated daily (both mentally and physically). Odie is very playful and eager to learn: clicker training, search, object retrieval, obedience. Odie is house-trained and shows calm behavior at home. She is social with other dogs and always ready to play. However, her history makes Odie a young-at-heart dog who, despite her age, will need a clear structure at home to channel her energy and learn to better manage her frustrations. Additionally, Odie suffers from separation anxiety related to the long hours of solitude she experienced before arriving with her FA. Therefore, learning exercises for solitude will be necessary at the beginning. Cat Compatibility: We are unsure if she wants to play or chase cats. Adoption Fee: 267 euros (adoption fee includes membership) Adoption outside of France is possible. However, the amount of the adoption fee must be increased by the cost of the animal's departure from the territory (rabies vaccine and passport required 21 days before departure). The adopter must also be able to visit the foster family to meet the animal. To adopt, please fill out this form:

About Odie

What life with Odie looks like

Odie is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Action 4 Pets in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Action 4 Pets handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Action 4 Pets will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Action 4 Pets early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
