adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Odie has found a home! His story: Odie and his sister Poppy are looking for a family. They were probably abandoned with their other brother at birth. Punto, their third brother, has already found a home. And luckily, Poppy and Odie traveled to Germany in the fall to a foster home, where they are now safely settled and adjusting to their new lives step by step. At first, all three are still a bit shy and cautious around new people and situations. But that changes quickly: once trust is established, they really come out of their shells and develop into incredibly loving, sweet, and affectionate dogs who enjoy being close and showing affection. In their foster home, they live problem-free with other dogs and show themselves to be social and compatible. Additionally, they already know cats, sheep, and cows and meet them calmly and composedly. Odie has a great black coat with sweet white spots, which looks a bit more tousled and fluffy compared to his siblings – he is simply a little wild thing! With his sweet white muzzle and white paws, he is no less cute than his siblings in terms of cuteness. Just like his siblings, he is a little explorer: when he stretches his nose into the air to inhale the scents of the wide world, you know he is ready for an adventure! At first, Odie is still a bit unsure and mistrustful of new people, but he quickly breaks the ice. Once he realizes nothing can happen to him, he warms up and shows his friendly, outgoing nature. Currently, Odie is in the exciting puppy phase. This is a wonderful but also intense phase where the foundations for his entire life are laid. Everything is learned that a confident dog needs to know, from house training to the first commands. This requires patience, consistency, and a lot of love, because a puppy is like an uncharted page that must be filled with positive experiences. And be warned: after this phase comes puberty! He will suddenly lose his ears, question rules, and see the world with new, hormonally driven eyes. This is the famous "teenage phase," which is the same for us humans. It still requires understanding, a loving and safe framework, and a sense of humor to get through this time together. In the end, you will be accompanied by a wonderful, adult, likely medium-sized dog. Odie will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, with his EU pet passport, to his new home. After a positive home visit, are you ready to give this little heart dog with her curiosity and potential a safe, happy home, to guide her through thick and thin, and to explore the world together? Thank you, Rabea! With your namesake sponsorship, you have paved the way for Ody's happy ending. As of January 10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 10.01.2026

About Odie

What life with Odie looks like

Odie is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
