Adopt Odin

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 4 years

Although cautious in new situationsll once he feels comfortable. He loves affection, enjoys a game of fetch, and has a particular soft spot for squeaky balls. Food is another one of his favourite things, especially if cheese or peanut butter is on offer! Odin loves getting out for his walks and is happiest when he can splash and wade in water. At home, he loves a nap and can often be found snoozing on the sofa or curled up in a cosy bed, especially if there's a sunny spot to enjoy. This clever boy already knows several cues, including "sit", "down", "paw", and "wait". With positive reward-based training, he'd love to continue learning new skills and building his confidence. Odin is a lovely boy who just needs a little time and understanding to settle into his new home. Once he does, you'll discover a playful, affectionate companion who will make a wonderful addition to the right family. Lovely Odin is a 4-year-old Bulldog searching for his forever home. This handsome boy could live with teenagers aged 16 and over and is looking for a quieter home environment where he can truly relax and thrive. Odin would like to be the only dog in the home, where he can enjoy all the love and attention to himself. However, he would enjoy having some calm, well-mannered doggy friends to go on walks with. He is unable to live with small furries, and we have no history of him living around livestock. When meeting new people, Odin can be a little shy and sensitive at first, but it doesn't take long for his playful personality to shine through, especially if there are toys involved! Once he's made a friend, he's incredibly affectionate and loves spending time with his favourite people. Odin enjoys exploring the world around him and can sometimes be strong on the lead when he's excited or somewhere new. In his foster home, he has been comfortable being left for up to four hours. He is housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go outside. Travelling can make Odin a little nervous; he likes to be in the boot and able to see his people. Ideally, he'd love a home with walks right on the doorstep, away from busy roads and heavy traffic, as loud vehicles can be unsettling for him. Odin's favourite place to walk is the beach!

About Odin

What life with Odin looks like

Odin is a small adult english bulldog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
