Ody

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

The translation of the Greek animal-shelter listing is as follows: How many lives do dogs have? Odile definitely has 3! 1. We first saw her at the shelter in a terrible state. She was walking like a withered frog and her tail and diarrhea were coming out... She had typhoid! Fortunately, she overcame it. 2. Two months later, this frog-dog had laid down and was not moving... After a formal request from our Association, she was transferred to the contracted veterinarian and it was found in an X-ray that she had swallowed wires (apparently for her teeth). She underwent surgery. In consultation with the authorities, we took on the responsibility of hosting Odile until the many stitches in her stomach were absorbed. She suffered from ascites and lack of protein, but we managed it! 3. She is 8 months old, still in foster care, and went for sterilization, where she was diagnosed with ascites and anemia. She was hospitalized for three days. She is being hosted for a few more days! We would like her 4th life to be a beautiful life with her forever human. Her foster care is ending in a few days and she will have to go back to the shelter. The foster care space will welcome another animal in need. She is obedient, knows how to use a leash and go for a walk to the bathroom, however, the bathroom needs more work initially with more walks and gradually she will learn... We are looking for responsible foster care/adoption! She should not go back to the cage! She has an excellent character!

About Ody

What life with Ody looks like

Ody is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Voice in Athens.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ody, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ody?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Voice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ody on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ody if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Voice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ody already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ody isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Voice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ody and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
