Adopt Ogis

Mixed Breed · Male

Does Ogis find his happiness? VIDEO - Meet one of the most unfortunate cats in our shelter. When still a kitten, Ogis was thrown into a bin with his brothers, wrapped in a bag... His first home wasn't happy - the kitten was returned after more than a year because he urinated in the wrong place. In that home, the cat was stressed by active and noisy children, and the urination problems were not properly addressed. The shelter noticed that this sensitive little cat was stressed by other cats and dogs, so we had to arrange separate apartments for him. After almost two years, Ogis found a home again, where he lived for about six months and then returned to the shelter. The reason - the kitten urinated in the wrong place again. This time, the boy lived alone with his owner, but when he returned, he would whine when someone raised their hand, and he had advanced feline stomatitis, so he lived in long-term pain... We had to remove all his teeth, now it doesn't hurt anymore. We are sure that all these reasons affected Ogis' urination. It is important to emphasize that neither the first nor the second owners of Ogis sought professional help from a cat behavior specialist. It's no surprise that trying to solve it on their own could have caused harm, and the problem only worsened. Today we have a cat who constantly sits by the door, looks hopefully through the window, and whines longing - it breaks the heart. Ogis loves people madly. This is a cat that constantly follows you around, watches what you do, participates, puts his head in for a stroke, then curls up and purrs happily. Ogis really loves playing. This is a cat at the peak of his strength; his eyes sparkle when a toy is taken out - a feather toy, he joyfully chases the toy, satisfying his hunting instinct and strengthening the bond with the human. He also loves to eat. Although he has no teeth, Ogis eats dry food well, but he loves canned food even more, licking them with great gratitude. Will there be a person who doesn't have or has already raised children, without other animals, but wants a cat who will become the most loyal friend? Ogis doesn't deserve to spend his whole life in the shelter... He is a perfect human companion, and his loneliness is certainly solvable - it just takes patience and teamwork with a cat specialist.

About Ogis

What life with Ogis looks like

Ogis is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at SOS Gyvūnai in Šalčininkų r. sav..

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ogis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ogis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Gyvūnai handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ogis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ogis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Gyvūnai will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ogis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ogis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Gyvūnai early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ogis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
