adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ole can stay! His story: Oh Ole, how much suffering did you have to endure? Ole is one of the dogs whose fate is particularly touching. Standing there like a heap of misery, sad and broken, emaciated to the bones, his originally fluffy, snow-white fur matted and dirty. The large, fresh scar on his neck shows how narrowly Ole escaped death. When our animal rescuer Roxana found him, he had a deep, pus-filled flesh wound on his neck caused by a noose. Instead of running away in pain, he did something incredibly heroic: The severely injured dog led Roxana directly to the place where his sons were waiting, dirty and almost starved. They ate maize kernels from the ground in their desperation because there was nothing else. The owner openly said he wanted to bring them to the forest – to kill them. Without the brave Ole, they would not have had a chance. He saved their lives. Today, Ole lives in the our shelter in Fantanele and finds new life slowly there. His physical and emotional wounds are healing, and his wonderful, fluffy fur is growing back. Ole is about 4 years old and weighs around 30 kg. At first, he was unsure and standoffish, but who can blame him – the deep flesh wound on his neck must have caused him excruciating pain. Now, he understands that he and his sons are safe here, and the people here do not want to harm him. It is incredibly touching to see him then with a very cautious wag of his tail, approaching people hesitantly but curiously, and enjoying the first gentle cuddles. He never gave up hope for a good life, our Ole with the fighter heart – and we want to help him make that hope worthwhile. For Ole, we wish people with patience, calmness, and empathy who can show him how much beauty life has to offer. Without pressure. Without expectations. Very preferably with a garden, maybe with a confident second dog – but most of all with people who see him as he is: A wonderful, brave dog with a moving story and a wonderful future. Ole is friendly with other dogs, but whether he likes cats has not yet been tested. We assume that Ole is a mixed breed of herding dog. These dogs are incredibly loyal and intelligent characters. They are extremely cooperative when met with trust and friendship. Ole wishes for a rural home with people who are aware of the wonderful qualities of a herding dog and may even have experience with them. Our fighter heart Ole can stay after positive. Upon his arrival, he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and brings his EU pet passport. The adoption fee is 500 Euros. Do you give this brave dog the chance at a home full of warmth and love, where he can simply be a dog? Contact us if you want to show Ole that his bravery has been worth it. Many thanks, Anika! You gave Ole his name! Date: 06.08. Gets along with other dogs.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Ole darf bleiben! Vielen Dank Anika! Du hast Ole seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 06.08.2025

About Ole

What life with Ole looks like

Ole is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ole, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ole?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ole on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ole if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ole already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ole isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ole and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
