Olek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Olek is an absolutely adorable little doggy. He’s 7 months old and has been at the shelter for 3 months—meaning he’s spent most of his formative years right here. 🙁 This hasn’t gone unnoticed in his behavior. Olek came to us following a large-scale rescue operation during which we took in as many as 59 dogs. He was one of them—scared, neglected, and afraid even of his own shadow. We embarked on intensive behavioral work with him, and today Oluś is unrecognizable. He’s made tremendous progress, though he still carries quite a bit of fear within him. He goes for walks now, happily trotting, jumping around, and literally everywhere you look. He feels more confident when he’s around other dogs, so he loves going for walks specifically with them. 🦮❤️ With new people, he can still be a bit wary, but he’s already starting to accept touch. Once he gets to know someone better and trusts them, he’ll actively seek out their company and curl up right on their lap. 🥺 Olek is such a sweet little pup who needs above all patience and understanding. Other dogs are a huge source of support for him, so we’d love to find him a home where he’d have a canine companion by his side. 🙏🏽 Olek has everything it takes to become a wonderful companion—he just needs time, space, and a little bit of effort from his future family. We highly recommend this little guy for adoption ❤️

PL·Show original

Olek to absolutnie urocze psie dziecko. Polecamy malucha do adopcji ❤️

About Olek

What life with Olek looks like

Olek is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
