Adopt Olga (vermittelt)

Poodle · Female · Adult · 6 years

Regarding the ages provided here, they are often estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Olga Born around 2008, female, neutered, breed: Dwarf Poodle, size: very small. Foster home: Olga found her family and has already moved there. Unfortunately, due to a technical mishap, all photos were lost…. But thanks to the adopters and intensive research, we were able to find some again or new ones were sent to us. Many thanks to the adopters. A while ago, our animal protection friends from Almeria asked for our help: a breeder had agreed to surrender several of her "exhausted" show dogs, and so we agreed to take the little Poodle lady Olga into our shelter. Our partner organization picked up the dogs, and during the subsequent vet visit, it turned out that Olga was in a catastrophic condition. Although she is estimated to be around 6 years old, she looks like an old dog. She is severely emaciated, weighing only slightly over 2.5 kg, she has almost no teeth left, and can barely walk – a wretched heap. Additionally, it was discovered that she has a mammary tumor, and we had to wait for a while to determine that the tumor had not yet spread, allowing Olga to undertake the arduous journey to Germany. Upon arrival here, we noticed that despite her poor condition, Olga is a fighter. She is a small personality that wants to live and is now experiencing, for the first time in her life, what affection and security mean. She is overjoyed by every affection, a warm spot on the sofa, and is happy just to lie next to her people and be stroked. Many thanks to her foster home, which spontaneously agreed to take in the little Olga along with Tamino and take such tender care of her. Olga’s operation is scheduled next, and we are expecting costs of around 500 €. We would be very grateful for donations if you would like to help Olga, please make a donation to our account: TSV Second Chance Dogs e.V. About Olga (vermittelt)

What life with Olga (vermittelt) looks like

Olga (vermittelt) is a small adult poodle dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olga (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olga (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olga (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olga (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olga (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olga (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olga (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
