adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Olin has received his ticket to happiness! His story: Busag, Romania. What Olin still needs for his happiness, you can provide! If the 6-month-old puppy gets the chance to find his perfect family, his doggy heart would do somersaults out of joy. For Olin, there could be nothing greater than taking on the role of the loyal companion, the best friend, and of course, the ultimate cuddle partner. We don't know the circumstances that led Olin to the shelter, but it can't have been his fault, because the small male dog is such a social, totally lovable, and very handsome pup. When he gets the chance to run free, he shows a playful and energetic side. His curious nose flits about, greeting every blade of grass. But it's heartbreaking to see how he always stops short, longingly gazing through the bars toward freedom – please help this poor soul, preferably with a foster home. The handsome young dog, who might look like a Labrador mix, is currently 40 cm high and weighs 15 kg. He's expected to grow to a perfect medium size. Olin is an absolute newcomer to everything and is unfamiliar with a home environment or everyday situations. Basic commands and the meaning of "house-trained" are still unknown to him. It's important to give him time, be patient, and show understanding if things don't work out right away. This also applies to the upcoming puberty in a few months, when the hormone-driven Olin might once again test the boundaries of his favorite people. The friendly Olin gets along wonderfully with his furry fellow animals, but whether he does the same with cats, we haven't been able to determine yet. If the puppy is allowed to travel, he will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered from the seventh month of life. He has an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive health check. Who has the desire and joy to experience unique adventures with Olin, to attend exciting dog training classes together, or simply to enjoy his endearing presence? Once again, many heartfelt thanks to Silvie S., who gave him the lovely name Olin – the Energetic.

About Olin

What life with Olin looks like

Olin is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
