Ollie

Male · Senior · 11 years

Meet Ollie, a charming 11-year-old Lhasa Apso with a friendly personality and a love of the quieter things in life. This affectionate little gentleman enjoys spending time with his favourite people, whether that’s receiving some gentle fuss, pottering around exploring his surroundings or simply relaxing nearby. Ollie is a sociable boy who has shown us how much he enjoys meeting people and making new friends. Ollie's previous owner reported that he was comfortable being left alone, with no concerns around separation-related behaviours. More recently, he was generally left for up to two hours, although he had previously managed periods of up to six hours. Whilst in our care, Ollie initially displayed some stress in his kennel but has since been observed settling comfortably and spending time resting independently. Since arriving in our care, Ollie has made lovely progress in adjusting to his new surroundings. Although he initially found kennel life a little overwhelming, he has gradually become more comfortable and now enjoys settling in his bed and taking life at his own pace. He has also shown us his friendly side around other dogs, particularly those who are calm and respectful of his space. Ollie enjoys leisurely walks and exploring new smells, making him a lovely companion for someone who appreciates a gentler pace of life. Ollie is looking for an understanding, adult-only home with owners who can provide a calm, predictable routine and are happy to continue his positive training. He would prefer a home without cats or small animals. A secure garden would be beneficial to help establish a consistent toileting routine, alongside regular gentle walks and plenty of opportunities to explore. With patience, understanding and a comfortable place to call his own, Ollie has the potential to be a wonderfully affectionate companion who will enjoy sharing life’s quieter moments with his new family. About Ollie

What life with Ollie looks like

Ollie is a small senior dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ollie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ollie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ollie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ollie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ollie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ollie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ollie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
