OMEGA

Unknown · Senior · 13 years

Omega came into our care along with her brother Alf after the death of their beloved guardian. In 2015, she found a home and for a decade enjoyed warmth, care, and the daily closeness of a human companion. Unfortunately, fate once again put her to the test, and today she’s once again looking for someone who will give her a loving heart and a safe haven. The beginning at the shelter was very difficult for her. Omega was terrified—she would hide in the farthest corner of her kennel, avoid any contact, and refused to go for walks. The new, noisy reality completely overwhelmed her. Yet, thanks to the patience and dedication of a volunteer, she made tremendous progress. Today, she eagerly anticipates walks, and when she sees her leash, she can’t help but wiggle her paws with excitement. She lets you gently wipe her paws after a walk without any trouble—but you have to be calm and gentle so as not to startle her with sudden movements. More and more often, she greets people with joyful tail-wagging and energetically spins around her kennel—it’s hard to believe that earlier she tried so hard to remain completely “invisible.” Omega loves affection and close contact with her caregiver, but her heart is especially easy to win over with treats. She can enjoy special delicacies or vegetables (she’s on a Hypo + Dermo diet), but remember—she’s a real sweet tooth! The noise at the shelter really stresses her out—other dogs barking trigger tension in her, and she often responds in kind. She doesn’t tolerate other dogs and has a strong instinctive reaction toward cats. We don’t know how she’d react to children, but she certainly wouldn’t thrive in a home with small, noisy toddlers. Above all, she needs a calm, predictable environment—preferably away from urban hustle and bustle or in a quiet area. She’s looking for patient caregivers who are willing to give her time to fully open up and rebuild her sense of security. In a home setting, she’ll undoubtedly reveal her true, tender nature much faster. However, you should be prepared for the possibility that she might struggle with separation anxiety. Dzięki cierpliwości i zaangażowaniu wolontariuszki zrobiła jednak ogromny krok naprzód. Kontakt do wolontariusza: 500 289 124

About OMEGA

What life with OMEGA looks like

OMEGA is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Kraków in Kraków.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting OMEGA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about OMEGA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kraków handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw OMEGA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt OMEGA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kraków will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is OMEGA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if OMEGA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kraków early rather than rehoming privately; they know OMEGA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
