OOPER

Pointer · Male · Adult · 8 years

Entry date: 06/16/2026 Ooper is a sweet, gentle dog with a big heart. At first glance, he’s a bit shy, but little by little, he’s discovering the affection and kindness he’s known so little in his life. Once he feels safe and trusted, he reveals himself to be incredibly loving and happily snuggles against your leg, asking for cuddles. The last humans who cared for him kept him permanently leashed to prevent him from running away. Despite this, Ooper has remained a gentle and endearing dog. He doesn’t jump, is very discreet, never destroys anything, and sometimes just moves his little belongings around instead. At the vet’s office, he’s exemplary—allowing himself to be handled without any trouble at all. He hasn’t yet learned the basics of training and can feel a bit lost when asked to do something specific. He’ll need a patient, gentle, and reassuring family—one that’s ready to teach him kindly that making mistakes is okay and that he’s finally safe and secure. 🐾 Ooper is simply looking for a gentle, loving family that will give him the time, love, and trust he deserves, enabling him to write the most beautiful chapter of his life. 🐾 Ooper is a sweet, gentle dog with a big heart. About OOPER

What life with OOPER looks like

OOPER is an adult pointer dog waiting at SPA Poitiers in Poitiers.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting OOPER, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about OOPER?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Poitiers handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw OOPER on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt OOPER if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Poitiers will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is OOPER already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if OOPER isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Poitiers early rather than rehoming privately; they know OOPER and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
