Oreo

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Kitten

Our animal advocates report: The handsome white-and-black Oreo has a heartbreaking history. Found on the street as a tiny, just one-month-old kitten, he was adopted by a couple. For three years, he was allowed to grow up in a family - but then he was given up to the shelter with a heavy heart. Currently, Oreo lives with us in the sanctuary in his own room. He can't understand the world anymore: from the cozy couch and constant closeness to his humans, it suddenly went to the animal shelter. Despite this sad change, Oreo shows every day what a wonderful, cuddly and incredibly playful cat he is! He longs so much for the security of a real home. Oreo can be adopted with an existing, compatible cat, but he would also feel like a single prince. He has already received his first vaccinations (against cat diseases and rabies) and is ready for his big journey to new happiness at the end of October 2026! Who will give this dear cat the stability and love he so desperately misses? The animal presented here comes from a shelter/foster home, which houses many animals. We are looking for a home for these animals for a loving and safe life. The descriptions are short because there is simply no time left for daily care of all the animals. A more detailed description can be requested if interested, please send your questions directly by email to the address provided. We will try to answer them as soon as possible. Home sought For Oreo, we are looking for a loving, understanding home. Our cats come to their new home spayed, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed and with an EU passport, provided the age and health status allow it. They are also tested for FELV/FIV. We look forward to your contact.

About Oreo

What life with Oreo looks like

Oreo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oreo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oreo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oreo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oreo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oreo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oreo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oreo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
