Oreo

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Oreo has found its family! Oreo was found together with his mother Nala and his siblings Bella, Felix, and Mabli behind a roadside barrier on a country road. Simply abandoned and left to fend for itself. Fortunately, the little family was discovered in time and brought to safety. The little Oreo stands out immediately because he is the only puppy in the litter who inherited his mother's beautiful black-and-white fur. Additionally, his short, stubby tail does not hinder him in everyday life at all. However, he cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. Visually, Oreo is simply an absolutely adorable little guy who wins hearts with his gaze. Currently, Oreo is the smallest of the four puppies. This does not prevent him from curiously exploring the world and joining in everywhere. Typical puppy behavior shows him to be playful, alert, and full of small ideas. Sometimes he will wander around, sometimes play, and perhaps even test whether shoelaces or pants legs are not also exciting toys. Oreo is growing up in a foster home in Romania with children, dogs, and cats. Since Oreo has never lived in a real home before, of course, he still has to learn everything. House training, leash manners, quiet periods, or being alone are things that must be patiently taught to him. It should not be forgotten that puppies are not small, fully grown dogs. Mishaps, chewed objects, or small chaos moments belong to this age and should be accompanied with patience, humor, and understanding. Puberty will also eventually come with the phase where rules are suddenly questioned and hearing sometimes seems to disappear in the short term. It is therefore all the more important to accompany Oreo through life with love, clarity, and consistency. A visit to a positively working dog training class can be a helpful support and help to build a good foundation together. For Oreo, we wish for people who are willing to grow with a young dog and show him the world step by step. Oreo travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport to his new home. Who will fall in love with this little black-and-white heartbreaker and finally give him his own home? Many thanks to godparent Jannis K., who gave Oreo his name and thus a chance at a new life.

About Oreo

What life with Oreo looks like

Oreo is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oreo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oreo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oreo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oreo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oreo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oreo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oreo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
