Adopt Oreo (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Regarding the ages mentioned here, they are often estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Born around mid-2011, gender female dog, neutered, breed mixed breed, size small-medium. Foster home Oreo, the own fear being in the way, and having settled in so well with us, we do not want to burden the sweet mouse with the necessity to move to another home. Such a move would be a big step back for Oreo, and we do not want to do that to her. One could also speak of foster failure in this case 😉 Foster home report Oreo is an uncomplicated, very social female dog that gets along well with other dogs. She is initially reserved with strangers and needs time to build trust, especially with men and male children. Oreo is house-trained, travels comfortably in the car, and can also be left alone without causing trouble. She walks well on a leash and enjoys snuggling rounds with "her" people. She has a shoulder height of about 40 cm and with just under 10 kg, she has a beautiful, slender figure. For this absolutely loving female dog, we are looking for a quiet home where there is not too much turbulence and people who can handle her initially reserved nature. Children should be older (at least 14 years). An ideal match would be a sporty couple or a single woman with dog experience. Small animals should not be present in the new home. It would be nice to have a safe, quiet only dog who can help Oreo overcome her insecurities. Currently, she often stands in her own way due to her fear, but once she has built a stable bond with a person, she will become a great dog. Here are a few pictures. About Oreo (vermittelt)

What life with Oreo (vermittelt) looks like

Oreo (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oreo (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oreo (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oreo (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oreo (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oreo (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oreo (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oreo (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
