Origami

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Gender: female Age: born around February 2024 (approximate estimated date) Size: average adult size (estimated) (about 15 kg – February 2026) Date of arrival at the shelter: August 2024 Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs, okay with cats Temperament: fearful Progress: July 12, 2026: Origami is doing very, very well. She’s house-trained, responds to her name, has gained a good amount of weight, plays a lot, and absolutely loves cats and dogs—she enjoys playing with everyone. The only issue she’s had since arriving is that she’ll only approach within 1 meter of us, and we still haven’t managed to touch her. That’s it. She’d need to be alone or with another dog in order to make progress with humans, because I get the impression that, with two dogs and several cats already around her, she’s using the pack dynamic to avoid having to interact with us and stay comfortably within her human comfort zone. It’s not malicious—it’s just that she doesn’t want to engage with us. But if she didn’t have any other choice, I think that’s exactly what would help her finally step out of her comfort zone and start approaching humans. February 22, 2026: Origami is doing great; she now weighs at least 15 kg and eats very well. We still can’t touch her. She’d benefit from having another dog to live with—she’s used to being with her foster family. She’s house-trained, and she’s afraid of both human men and women. October 1, 2025: Not much progress when we remain static—she comes over to us to feel our presence and then doesn’t run away anymore. Shy upon arrival (August 2024). About Origami

What life with Origami looks like

Origami is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Origami, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Origami?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Origami on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Origami if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Origami already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Origami isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Origami and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
