Adopt Orzeszek

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Orzech was found with a litter of six siblings, each very cautious in their interactions with people. We don't know what happened to them there, but it clearly affected their trust in humans as a whole. What is he like? He is a gentle and unassuming creature with brown fur, which is often not considered a typical ideal of beauty. Orzech is also a bit wild, probably due to his difficult beginning in the forest. Because of this, he needs a home that will work with him, offering a safe environment and patience to help him overcome his shyness. The foundation is the result of many years spent in stress, as the large number of cats means he never loses his inhibitions. We still hope that someone will open their heart to Orzech and take him away from misfortune, because within him lies a great measure of tenderness and potential to become a fantastic lifelong companion. Although Orzech is shy, he approaches volunteers with curiosity and sniffs out stretched hands; we are sure that in a domestic environment he will open up to people. Orzech is waiting for a person who will understand his delicate nature and give him time to adjust to a new environment. In return, he will reward you with his loyalty and joy, which will make every day full of smiles and warmth. 😊

About Orzeszek

What life with Orzeszek looks like

Orzeszek is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa in Warszawa.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Orzeszek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Orzeszek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Orzeszek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Orzeszek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Orzeszek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Orzeszek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psy Ulicy Warszawa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Orzeszek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
