Adopt Oso

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Oso is a handsome young boy with a big heart and an even bigger love of life. At just over a year old, he’s reached that lovely age where he still has all the fun and playfulness of a puppy, but is already developing into a well-mannered companion. He’s a very affectionate dog who absolutely adores human company. If you stop to give him a belly rub, don’t be surprised if he dramatically flops over to make life easier for you — he’s quite the professional cuddler. He’s been brought up around children and is described as being very gentle with them. Oso is intelligent and eager to engage with his people. He already knows a wide range of commands including sit, down, wait, heel and come, and he really enjoys interactive play and training sessions. Balls and chew toys are very high on his list of favourite things. In the home, Oso is house trained and enjoys having his own safe cosy space to relax in. He travels well in the car and settles nicely once underway. He’s also been described as very inquisitive and generally good with other dogs. Like many young dogs, Oso can initially get overexcited when meeting new people, but this quickly settles once he’s said hello. He’s full of character, full of love, and would thrive in a home that can continue giving him structure, companionship and plenty of positive engagement. Oso will arrive fully vaccinated and with comprehensive health checks, including: Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Oso

What life with Oso looks like

Oso is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oso, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oso?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oso on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oso if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oso already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oso isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oso and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
