Otis, a charming little Rottweiler mix, is waiting for his forever home. He was born around July 2024 and is estimated to be between 30-39 cm tall and 10-14 kg. Learn more about Otis in the video! Otis has been living with his sister for about a year with a family on a farm. However, the family decided they could no longer keep them, so Otis came to the shelter. He is open and friendly to all the caregivers and seeks their attention and affection. This furball is new to the shelter. Our caregivers take the time to get to know and assess each dog. As we learn more about the character of this furball, we will update this profile. You can still fill out a self-disclosure form for this dog. We suspect that Otis is a Herding Dog Mix (HSH). Please inform yourself about the requirements for adopting a Herding Dog Mix. HSH mixes are often very independent and need a confident leader. Otis suffers from arthritis/hip dysplasia. For this reason, a home without many stairs is sought to spare the dog pain. (The furball will need medication for the rest of his life.) Otis has a scar on his muzzle. This is not uncommon in Romania. Many people still believe that burning the muzzle protects dogs from diseases. However, the scar does not affect this furball in any way. Otis has a short tail. It is unclear whether his tail was docked or if it is congenital. Otis is currently underweight. Dogs on the streets or in killing stations are often given little to no food, so they become very thin. However, in the shelter, our furball is being fed more and should hopefully soon be at a normal weight. Otis is slightly overweight. Often, people mean well with the dogs and feed them beyond their healthy ideal weight. However, in the shelter, Otis is allowed to lose some weight so that he can go into his new home slim and trim. Due to his health condition and age, we are looking for a sanctuary for this furball. In a sanctuary, higher veterinary costs are covered and the adoption fee is waived. Der bezaubernde Otis wartet auf sein großes Happy End! Otis lebte gemeinsam mit seiner Schwester etwa ein Jahr bei einer Familie im Hof. Die Familie wollte die beiden jedoch nicht länger behalten und so kam Otis schließlich ins Tierheim. Erfahre mehr über Hunde in Rumänien in unserem Tierschutz-FAQ . Otis zeigt sich von seiner besten Seite. Er ist ein rundum freundlicher, aufgeschlossener und sehr menschenbezogener kleiner Rüde. Auch gegenüber den Pfleger:innen begegnet er allen offen und freundlich und sucht gerne ihre Nähe und Aufmerksamkeit. Diese Fellnase ist noch neu im Tierheim. Unsere Pfleger:innen nehmen sich Zeit, um jeden Hund kennenzulernen und einzuschätzen. Wenn wir mehr über den Charakter dieser Fellnase wissen, ergänzen wir dieses Profil. HUNDENAME hat eine Narbe auf der Schnauze. Dies ist in Rumänien nicht unüblich. Viele Menschen glauben dort noch heute daran, dass man Hunde vor Krankheiten schützt, wenn man ihnen die Schnauze verbrennt. Die Narbe beeinträchtigt diese Fellnase jedoch keineswegs. HUNDENAME hat ein kupiertes Ohr/ zwei kupierte Ohren/ eine kupierte Rute. Vielen Hunden in Rumänien werden diese abgeschnitten, um die Tiere gefährlicher aussehen zu lassen. HUNDENAME hat eine kurze Rute. Es ist unklar ob seine/ ihre Rute kupiert oder angeboren ist. HUNDENAME ist bisher untergewichtig. Auf der Straße oder in Tötungsstationen bekommen die Tiere meist zu wenig bis gar nichts zu fressen, sodass sie stark abmagern. Im Tierheim wird unsere Fellnase jedoch wieder mit mehr Nahrung versorgt und ist hoffentlich bald wieder normalgewichtig. HUNDENAME ist etwas übergewichtig. Oft meinen es Menschen gut mit den Hunden und füttern sie über ihr gesundes Idealgewicht hinaus. Im Tierheim darf die Fellnase jedoch noch etwas abspecken, damit es schlank und rank ins neue Zuhause gehen kann. Aufgrund des gesundheitlichen Zustands und des hohen Alters suchen wir für diese Fellnase einen Gnadenplatz. Bei einem Gnadenplatz werden nach Absprache mit dem Verein höhere tierärztliche Kosten übernommen und die Schutzgebühr entfällt. Der Hund soll so eine bessere Chance auf ein Zuhause haben, um wenigstens den Rest seines Lebens in Ruhe und Sicherheit verbringen zu können. Aufgrund des gesundheitlichen Zustands dieser Fellnase entfällt bei der Adoption die Schutzgebühr. Unsere Handicap-Hunde sollen so eine bessere Chance auf ein Zuhause haben, um wenigstens den Rest ihres Lebens in Ruhe und Sicherheit verbringen zu können.
