adoption requirements adoption process Now meet Otti! adoption requirements adoption process Otti has found his home! His story: A fluffy little bear with irresistible fluff hair – that's Otti! At 34 cm and 5 kg, he's a friendly and playful companion. Although he's not as self-assured as his two black siblings, he conquers every heart with his charming personality. He loves treats and is more of a quiet companion who explores his surroundings curiously when outside and enjoys playing. He is expected to grow to a medium size when fully grown. Otti is currently still a puppy and still has a lot to learn. Basic commands like "sit" and "stay" will come quickly with his love for snacks. He also needs to learn how to be left alone, which should be practiced step-by-step with lots of patience so he feels secure when you're not around. When Otti enters puberty, there might be some wobbliness. He might test his boundaries, and you'll need a lot of patience. But don't worry, this is a normal phase that can be handled with loving consequences. Otti is very friendly with other dogs, and his behavior towards cats has not yet been tested. He was found together with his three siblings on the way to the shelter and is now waiting in Zalau for his perfect home. Otti travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, together with his EU pet passport to his new family. But he would also be happy in a foster home. Who will grant this enchanting fluff ball a happy life? He has so much love to give! Thank you, Gerlinde S., you gave Otti a name and thus an identity. Last update: 18.09.

Stand: 18.09.2025

About Otti

What life with Otti looks like

Otti is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Otti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Otti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Otti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Otti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Otti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Otti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Otti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
