Otto:)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Otto is one of those dogs you simply can't help but notice. He's about 11 years old, but there's still a young, cheerful dog in his head who would rather spend the whole day playing and close to a human. Otto is a friendly, charming boy who loves walks, contact with people, and of course, balls. Otto has a small obsession with them—he proudly carries every ball he wins to his box, as if he just won the most important game of his life. Despite his age, Otto hasn't lost his energy or his curiosity about the world. He still likes to play, go for walks, and make the most of every moment outside his bed. At the same time, Otto is a mature dog—he keeps clean, doesn't destroy things, and can peacefully rest at a human's side. He would be best suited in a home with a yard, with adults who are looking for a loyal companion. Otto has his own character, emotions, and a huge heart. He is very attached to people and badly handles the life of a shelter. Unfortunately, Otto has already spent too much time with us. Each day passes, and he still returns to his box instead of his own home. We would very much like Otto to still have the chance to know what it feels like to have a soft bed, a quiet yard, and a person who loves him forever. Maybe Otto is waiting for you?

PL·Show original

Kolejne dni mijają, a on nadal wraca do swojego boksu zamiast do własnego domu. Bardzo chcielibyśmy, żeby jeszcze zdążył poznać, czym jest miękkie legowisko, spokojny ogród i człowiek, który kocha na zawsze. Może właśnie na Ciebie czeka Otto?

About Otto:)

What life with Otto:) looks like

Otto:) is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Otto:), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Otto:)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Otto:) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Otto:) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Otto:) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Otto:) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Otto:) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
