adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ouzo has found a home! His story: Seven at once—and all irresistibly cute! Here come our new arrivals: Ouzo, Efendi, Calvin, Lupine, Lasse, Hektor, and Krümel. Probably abandoned, these about 3-month-old puppies were discovered near a busy road. Fortunately, they received help and found temporary shelter in a Romanian foster home. However, to avoid moving to a less-than-ideal shelter, these little hearts are desperately in need of a wonderful home. Each of these seven puppy siblings is unique—whether fluffy, short-haired, spotted, or striped, no coat is like another. This diversity makes it hard for us to determine their exact breed mix. Perhaps they combine a little of everything, which will surely be evident in their varied personalities as they grow. One thing we can say with certainty: Each of them contains a huge portion of love and joy. Even our roundly charming Ouzo is no exception. With his striped brown fur, trusting round eyes, and white paw tips, he is already a cute little unique, destined to grow into an impressive and beautiful male dog. Currently, he is only 25 cm tall and weighs 5 kg. Once he reaches his final size, he is expected to have a medium shoulder height. Our colorful pack's daily routine currently consists of all the wonderful things that puppyhood has to offer: running, playing, and cuddling—and they love to do this with their foster parent, their siblings, or the many cats that surround them. These little adventurers are extremely curious, friendly, and happy, and will surely make wonderful companions with their open nature. However, our Ouzo still needs a lot of support from his future people on the path to adulthood. Both everyday life and the big dog ABC need to be practiced. It's important that his trusted people have enough time, as puppies should not be left alone for long periods in their first year. Training in a good dog training class could be particularly beneficial for Ouzo during his puberty, as he needs additional guidance and orientation during this phase. Lots of exercise, creative playtime, and countless cuddles are crucial for a fulfilling dog life. Ouzo's castration is age-dependent and not yet possible. Who would like to be the so desperately sought-after two-legged companion in Ouzo's life? Even a foster kennel would be a great start to a new life. Many thanks to Eselwandern Odenwald for taking on the naming patronage of Ouzo. Status: 06.10. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Some symptoms here are age-related.

Stand: 06.10.2024

About Ouzo

What life with Ouzo looks like

Ouzo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ouzo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ouzo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ouzo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ouzo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ouzo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ouzo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ouzo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
