Ozzy (m)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Ozzy is a small, 2-year-old dog (30–35 cm) who lives at the public animal shelter of Botosani, Romania. The shelter houses over 800 dogs in cramped conditions, with new dogs arriving daily. Many face years of waiting without hope for a home. Few volunteers care for the dogs, ensuring they are seen and fed. As a small dog, Ozzy is particularly vulnerable to stress from the many large dogs around him. Daily life is marked by stress, territorial disputes, and power struggles. This isn't due to malice but rather the result of overcrowding, overwhelm, and constant emergency situations. Ozzy experiences significant stress himself. Despite this, he retains his curiosity. He is cautious, observes everything closely, and remains wary around people. He tolerates touch but has little experience with closeness or affection. It's clear that he wants to trust, but doesn't know how yet. We seek experienced dog owners who aren't expecting an immediately easy family pet. People who can show Ozzy patience, understanding, and calmness, demonstrating life can be beautiful. He needs time to settle in, build trust, and learn about his new world step by step. Those who give Ozzy this chance may not get a dog that runs carefree from day one. But with love, security, and patience, this little bundle of energy could become a loyal companion, finally experiencing what it's like to have a real home. Ozzy is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, treated for fleas, and has an EU pet passport. A Snap-4D test will be conducted before travel. Contact: Ozzy is placed through Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V., with pre-screening and a contract. The organization complies with §11 of the Animal Welfare Act. We'll continue to support you after adoption, for both humans and animals. Once adopted, Ozzy will travel to Germany and arrive in Pottenstein, where he must be picked up by his new family. Secure grounds are available there. Before contacting us, please ensure all family members are informed and agree to the adoption. Do you have your landlord's consent to keep a dog? Is your current pet okay with a new addition? Are you ready to pick up your new family member in Pottenstein? Then we look forward to hearing from you

About Ozzy (m)

What life with Ozzy (m) looks like

Ozzy (m) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ozzy (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ozzy (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ozzy (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ozzy (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ozzy (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ozzy (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ozzy (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
