Ozzy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Mixed breed, born 07/2024, approximately 36 cm tall. Gets along well with: male dogs, female dogs, and cats. Not yet tested with children. Ozzy is currently living with our friends in a Spanish animal shelter and immediately catches everyone’s attention with his extraordinary appearance. With his fluffy coat, attentive eyes, and large ears, he looks like a little adventurer—one of those dogs you just can’t help but fall in love with right away. But Ozzy isn’t just charming because of his looks. Behind his unique appearance lies a lovable dog who is eagerly waiting to finally find his own people. Ozzy gets along well with other dogs. He also approaches cats with friendliness and calmness at first sight. Therefore, we can easily imagine that, given a bit of time and patience, he’ll feel comfortable in many different life situations. We don’t yet know everything about his past. What we do know, though, is that Ozzy deserves a future where he can experience love, security, and safety—a home where he can truly belong and be loved as a full-fledged family member. His attentive gaze reveals that this little guy has a big personality inside. Maybe Ozzy isn’t perfect—but maybe he’s exactly the dog who’s perfect for the right people. Who would like to give this special little guy the chance to finally find his own happiness? Of course, Ozzy will be microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered, and thoroughly examined by a veterinarian before being rehomed. He’s also been tested for Mediterranean diseases and will bring an EU vaccination certificate to his new home. All the photos we have of Ozzy have been compiled into a slideshow at the top of this page. Just take your time and browse through the images, or feel free to click on them to view the next one. About Ozzy

What life with Ozzy looks like

Ozzy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ozzy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ozzy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ozzy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ozzy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ozzy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ozzy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ozzy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
