P/26-0008 -Mateo

Mixed Breed · Male

How to Adopt a Dog? Mateo is a young pup, approximately one and a half years old, surrendered by his legal guardian and currently under the care of our association. He is small, with short black fur, one of those calm dogs that simply enjoy being close to people and resting by your side. He has a sweet and balanced temperament: he gets along well with people and other dogs, enjoys quiet walks, and adores company. He doesn’t need big adventures; he just needs a home where he can feel safe, loved, and accompanied. Mateo lives with a significant challenge: he suffers from grade 3-4 patellar luxation in both hind legs, which affects his way of walking and requires special care. He cannot do intense efforts, nor climb or descend high stairs, and he will need to be evaluated by a trauma specialist to follow the most appropriate recovery guidelines. Fortunately, Mateo does not lose his joy or the will to live. He is a grateful, affectionate, and very noble dog who faces each day with calm and confidence. All he needs is a family that understands his situation and wants to accompany him in this process with patience and commitment. Our association will cover the veterinary costs related to his treatment. All Mateo needs is someone willing to open the doors of their home to him and give him the stability and affection he deserves. His story reminds us that animals with special needs also deserve opportunities, care, and a dignified life. Because adopting doesn’t mean searching for perfection, but committing to a being that depends on us. Mateo seeks foster care or responsible adoption. A quiet home where he can recover, feel loved, and learn that, after all, life can be kind to him. About P/26-0008 -Mateo

What life with P/26-0008 -Mateo looks like

P/26-0008 -Mateo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Huellas Callejeras in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting P/26-0008 -Mateo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about P/26-0008 -Mateo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Huellas Callejeras handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw P/26-0008 -Mateo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt P/26-0008 -Mateo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Huellas Callejeras will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is P/26-0008 -Mateo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if P/26-0008 -Mateo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Huellas Callejeras early rather than rehoming privately; they know P/26-0008 -Mateo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
