PAMINA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

A PAMINA was found on the street. She was skin and bones and had a broken leg. She had a microchip and the owner was contacted, but they said they had given her to another person and were not interested in her. Fortunately, PAMINA was not sick, just malnourished. In a few weeks, she gained three pounds. The fracture in her leg was old and had already healed. She was observed by an orthopedist in two consultations, received specific antibiotic treatment, and fortunately, she recovered without needing surgery. PAMINA is currently in a temporary foster care family. She revealed to be a calm dog, accustomed to living indoors. She is fine when left alone and does not destroy anything. She sleeps peacefully all night and has excellent manners indoors. PAMINA adores people and lives for receiving affection. Just look at her and she will greet us with an enthusiastic wag of her tail and a belly rub request. One of the things we love most about her is hearing her tail thump against the wall when she is happy to see us. She greets her people with genuine joy and is always happy when we return home. Currently, she lives happily with another dog and has integrated well into the home. As she gained confidence, she also began to show her playful side, running around with her large paws, inviting play and making us laugh with her fun personality. On the other hand, on the street during leash walks, she barks at other dogs and city walks can become tiring. So, she would be happier in a house with a garden, in a quiet area, than in an apartment in a bustling city. PAMINA travels well by car. She will be delivered vaccinated, dewormed, spayed, and with a microchip.

PT·Show original

About PAMINA

What life with PAMINA looks like

PAMINA is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at O Cantinho da Milu in Lisbon.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting PAMINA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PAMINA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. O Cantinho da Milu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PAMINA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PAMINA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — O Cantinho da Milu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PAMINA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PAMINA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with O Cantinho da Milu early rather than rehoming privately; they know PAMINA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
