Pan

Male · Adult · 6 years

Pan, a mixed breed dog, was born in April 2020. He weighs 7.5 kg and is a small breed. Unfortunately, his life began in the most cruel way. He was found in terrible conditions: he weighed just 4 kg, was skin and bones, and needed care and lots of love. Initial tests revealed he was positive for leishmaniasis. He underwent treatment, many dermatological baths, and a recovery process of attention and good food, prepared every day with fresh meat to help him regain his strength. Today he is much better and is negative! Some small scars remain on his face, where the hair still struggles to grow back, but they are a testament to what he had to face. He is sweet and affectionate with people he knows, but with strangers he can be timid and bark. In his life he has known violence: he was beaten with sticks, hands, and kicks. That's why, when he doesn't know someone, he tries to protect himself as best he can. But behind my fears is a dog who just needs to feel safe and learn to trust. Now I dream of a patient and loving family, who knows how to respect my time and make me forget all the suffering of the past. I would finally like to know the serenity of a home and the affection of someone who no longer scares me. I am currently in Chieti and I am looking for adoption in Central-North Italy. I am vaccinated and have a microchip.

Buono, dolce, socievole Persone, bambini, cani Ciao a tutti!

About Pan

What life with Pan looks like

Pan is a small adult dog waiting at I Pelosetti di Silvana in Italy.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. I Pelosetti di Silvana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — I Pelosetti di Silvana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with I Pelosetti di Silvana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
