Adopt Panda

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten · 9 months

"Panda" is an open, playful, and very cuddly cat who quickly wins all hearts with her cheerful nature. Typically black-and-white, she likes to entertain herself with her people and seems to find her own voice particularly intriguing during these interactions. She is very communicative and draws attention to herself when she wants closeness or mental stimulation. Given her young age, "Panda" loves extensive play sessions and is always curious about new impressions. She also meets other cats with exceptional social and friendly behavior. She is delighted by every new contact and always behaves respectfully and cautiously. If she is once hissed at, she does not react aggressively but rather retreats and tries her luck again at a later time. Since "Panda" has not been with us at the animal shelter for long, we are currently observing whether she would prefer to feel comfortable as a purely indoor cat with a secure balcony or whether she would later enjoy a free roam. Therefore, we cannot definitively say which housing form would suit her best. "Panda" would likely accept and befriend respectful and calm children in her new home with her open nature. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Panda

What life with Panda looks like

Panda is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Panda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Panda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Panda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Panda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Panda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Panda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Panda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
