Pandora

Galgo Español · Female · Young · 2 years

Pandora – ready for her own happiness The beautiful Galgo female dog Pandora has now moved to a foster home in Germany. A significant step towards a safe, personal home. After her time at the Spanish animal shelter, where she lovingly cared for her puppies, she is now beginning a phase where she can finally be the center of attention. At her foster home, Pandora shows what a fine and pleasant dog she is. She is very affectionate, often seeks human company, and clearly enjoys petting and loving attention. At the same time, she is calm, unobtrusive, and extremely compatible with people and other dogs. She likes to orient herself to her fellow dogs and finds security and joy in their company, which is why dog companionship would still be very welcome in her future home. Pandora is housebroken and has quickly adjusted to the daily routine of her foster home. Her gentle, balanced temperament makes her a very pleasant companion and has already won the hearts of her foster family. Inside the house - and anywhere there is no wildlife crossing her path - she appears especially affectionate, relaxed, and cuddly. Typical of her breed (Galgos are Spanish sighthounds originally bred in Spain for hunting rabbits), Pandora also has a pronounced hunting instinct. Therefore, she is always walked on a leash outdoors. When she catches a scent, she develops great strength and dynamism. Consequently, her humans should be physically capable of keeping her securely; this would not be possible for children. Important to know: Pandora is very inventive in overcoming boundaries. Garden fences quickly become a physical challenge or are creatively "rearranged" if necessary. Therefore, for her: secure off-leash exercise only in truly suitable, professionally secured areas, otherwise movement together with her humans on a leash. As a very active dog, she definitely wishes for an active lifestyle - jogging together or dog sports would be excellent options that would certainly bring her a lot of joy. Pandora is a dog with a big heart - gentle, people-oriented, and full of quiet affection. Whoever gives her time, security, and loving closeness will find in her a loyal and very special companion. Perhaps Pandora might finally arrive with you... Here is Pandora's video

About Pandora

What life with Pandora looks like

Pandora is a young adult galgo español dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pandora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pandora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pandora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pandora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pandora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pandora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pandora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
