Panko

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Panko is a small (11 kg) black dog who was born around 2018. Although life has not been kind to him, he is now ready to start a new chapter in his life. Panko came to us in very poor condition. The biggest problem was a severely ill ear, which required long treatment and careful care. Fortunately, thanks to patience and proper care, he recovered. Today, nothing stands in the way of him finding a loving home. He is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. From our observations, Panko was previously a typical yard dog who freely ran around the area and did not experience life at home. His stay in isolation during his recovery was very difficult for him, and it took him a long time to adapt to the new conditions. That's why we are looking for a special caregiver - a patient, understanding and consistent person who will give him time to learn about home life at his own pace and feel safe. This is a dog who will need support, understanding and a calm introduction to the new reality. He currently gets along well with other dogs and does not show any problems towards them. We believe that somewhere there is someone who will look deeper than just age or past and show Panko what a real home is. Maybe you can change his life?

About Panko

What life with Panko looks like

Panko is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Panko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Panko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Panko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Panko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Panko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Panko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Panko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
