How do I contact the shelter about Papy Paco?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Canine Sisteronaise handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Papy Paco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Papy Paco if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Canine Sisteronaise will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Papy Paco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Papy Paco isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Canine Sisteronaise early rather than rehoming privately; they know Papy Paco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Papy Paco

English Setter · Male

Papy Paco, a sweet retirement to offer him! He benefits from the Doyens operation. Papy Paco arrived very recently at the shelter after being found wandering on a national road, in a catastrophic and extremely thin state. Unfortunately, his story remains unknown, but one thing is certain: this kind old man needs someone to finally take care of him today. With his age, Paco is blind and deaf. His references are therefore very limited and he needs time to understand what surrounds him. He will also need regular eye care for the rest of his life, essential for his comfort and well-being. Despite all these difficulties, Paco remains a dog who enjoys human contact. He also has a small flaw... or rather a great quality for some: Paco is extremely greedy! Small treats are a great way to please him and gradually build a relationship of trust with him. For Paco, we are looking above all for a calm, stable and very present home. He needs to be able to live quietly, with people who will respect his rhythm and help him gradually find his bearings. He can also live with other dogs, provided they are themselves very calm. A companion too rough or too energetic could disorient him and put him in difficulty. After what he has lived, we would love for him to know the warmth of a home and end his life surrounded by people who will take care of him. He is waiting for you with impatience at the Sisteron shelter, come meet him! For more information, do not hesitate to contact us!
