Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Anton is a neutered Parson Russell Terrier male dog, born in April 2019, and moved in with us at nine weeks old. He attended a preparation course for the utility test but did not take the test. Anton shows great talent for searching and is enthusiastic on patrol. The origin papers are present. However, Anton was never used for hunting purposes. Due to the Corona lockdowns and limited contact with people and other dogs, we suspect an inadequate socialization. Consequently, he does not get along with all other dogs – particularly on a leash, he displays the behavior of a fear biter. In contrast, he often shows friendly and playful behavior towards larger dogs (especially hunting dogs, as well as terriers and dachshunds). Anton can stay alone without a problem and loves going for car rides. He is strongly leader-bound but requires clear, consistent leadership with firm rules. Typical of terriers, Anton shows a pronounced prey drive and should always be on a leash when near the street. Through clear signals, he is, however, recallable. Unfortunately, over the past six years, there have been a total of three biting incidents. In these cases, people were bitten who, despite appropriate warnings, approached him too quickly. Even drying off after a rainy walk can sometimes be challenging. Since the birth of our first child five months ago, Anton has shown signs of jealousy towards his main caregiver and, occasionally, the child. We cannot and do not want to continue to be responsible for this behavior for safety reasons. Therefore, we are looking for a new, suitable home for Anton. Wished home: Anton should be rehomed to a child- and cat-free environment. An experienced, dog-experienced person or a home with an intact pack could be a good match for him.

About Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“

What life with Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ looks like

Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Jagdhunde in Not e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jagdhunde in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jagdhunde in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jagdhunde in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Parson Russell Terrier „Anton“ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
