Adopt Pascha

Border Collie · Male · Adult · 7 years

"Seeking New Beginnings" Birthdate: May 2019 Size: just under knee-high Compatible with dogs: female dogs with affection, male dogs no Compatible with cats: no Children in the same household: no Home sought: individual spot in the countryside with sensitive people The sensitive, eager-to-learn, 2019-born Border Collie-male dog Pascha has unfortunately not only experienced positive things in his previous life, so he is looking for people with experience or training readiness to teach him, as he gets stressed easily and then also nips. Throwing balls is therefore not the right mental stimulation; he needs a lot of head work, and at the beginning, especially, an own dog room or a separated, quiet area! Pascha is house-trained, goes nicely on a leash, and rides nicely in the car. "When I came to the animal shelter, I was afraid of men. Now, however, I have met many wonderful people who have gradually taken away my fears. I like to cuddle, and my caregiver describes me as a real cuddle bear! I now have a new task: I am allowed to participate in the Nature Protection Dog Project. That totally suits me – but when I come back from work, I don't want to go back to my kennel … I have so much stress that I sometimes behave strangely – my caregivers call that stereotypes I have developed. That is also the reason why I am looking for very, very sensitive people who live in the countryside, as I react stressfully to other dogs when we meet. I so desperately want a new beginning with understanding people. Can you help me with that?". This animal has a history of biting.

About Pascha

What life with Pascha looks like

Pascha is a medium-sized adult border collie dog waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pascha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pascha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pascha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pascha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pascha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pascha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pascha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
