Patch

Male · Puppy · 11 months

5 puppies found on the roadside by a cyclist. Taken by him to safety. Now settled in foster. Happy and healthy apart from epilepsy which is controlled by medication. I am PATCH and lived for several months with my brother OREO in a lovely foster home in the campo. We played with the foster´s own 2 dogs and their 5 year old son. In April our foster family travelled so we went into kennels. I got lucky and a lady has offered me a temporary home until later in July. It has been wonderful - she cooks lovely food for me, brushes me and plays. I am learning a lot and now walk nicely, sit and relax when necessary and am very good in the car. I am now in a different foster home until the end of August. Having lots of fun playing with 4 other dogs and learning good behaviour! I know she has to go soon and I really would love a home of my own to stay in forever. Please contact us if you would like more information on Patch.

About Patch

What life with Patch looks like

Patch is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Axarquia Animal Rescue.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Patch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Patch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Axarquia Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Patch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Patch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Axarquia Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Patch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Patch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Axarquia Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Patch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
