adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Patrick has found a home! His story: 82405 Wessobrunn. If you're looking for a dream German Shepherd, then you're totally right with Patrick! In the short time in the foster home, he is described as a loving, cheerful, playful, and clingy male dog. He lives in a pack and loves walks. He learns very quickly and tries to apply everything as fast as possible. Patrick is already house-trained and also runs very well on a leash. Patrick wants to be very close to his people, probably never having felt so much love and now enjoying it to the fullest. Outdoors, he is interested in other dogs and behaves calmly, orienting himself to his people. Patrick had lived for a long time in Romania on a leash and had not experienced a beautiful dog life, now he is starting out with great strides. We are looking for people for Patrick who have a lot of time for him, where he is integrated into everyday life and can also be part of it as much as possible. A buddy in the new home would be great, but we can also imagine him as a single prince who would be happy without having to share his people. Cats should not live in the home due to his high hunting drive, and small animals only if they are well enclosed. The approximately 7-8 year old German Shepherd mix Patrick has a shoulder height of about 55 cm. Currently, he is being treated for Borreliosis, which is going according to plan and very well. German Shepherds were originally bred for hunting drives, so it should be expected that a free run in an area with many wild animals will be almost impossible. They are talented sight hunters, spotting movements from several hundred meters away and reacting instantly – human reactions are not that fast. At home, they are true couch potatoes, enjoying lying soft and cuddly and sleeping the day away. As soon as it gets out, they want to really go full throttle, so a securely enclosed garden is a great opportunity to get some exercise. The handsome male dog is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has his own EU pet passport and can be adopted for a fee of 450 Euro, making the referral process complete and Patrick can move into his forever home. Do you want to show Patrick what a real dog life looks like? Many thanks to Daniela S., who gave Patrick a name and thus an identity!

About Patrick

What life with Patrick looks like

Patrick is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Patrick, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Patrick?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Patrick on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Patrick if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Patrick already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Patrick isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Patrick and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
