Hello, I'm PAULA! At the shelter since: 17.12.2026, Private surrender Housing: Apartment - Single housing Company: Other cats stress me out and that's why I urgently need a home where everything revolves around me. :) So I am: Initially I need a little time to get used to you - even in a new environment and loud noises I retreat at first. But if you show me that I can trust you, then I am a very affectionate and nice cuddly cat. NOTE: QUIET HOUSEHOLD - no small children or other animals. Due to a shortened rectum I tend to diarrhea - it can therefore also happen to me that I do not get it on time to the litter box. I am not inherently unclean, currently I even have normal stool because of the right food. Basically I need someone who shows understanding for me and my "problems".

About Paula

What life with Paula looks like

Paula is a senior cat waiting at Tierheim Wels in Wels.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paula, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paula?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wels handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paula on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paula if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wels will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paula already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paula isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wels early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paula and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
