Paulchen

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Paulchen has found a home! His story: Paulchen – a giant plush bear who delights in every bit of attention. He is absolutely friendly with people and enjoys being cuddled by them. With other dogs of his size, he gets along well. With smaller dogs, he tries to dominate them. Paulchen is around 5 years old and stands at 64 cm shoulder height. As he does not necessarily accept smaller dogs and behaves very ruffly towards them, he should ideally be placed in a family without small children, cats, or other small pets. Paulchen is still very playful and loves to run around the property. Paulchen is a herding dog and, after settling into his new home, will likely display these characteristics. One should therefore familiarize themselves with the traits of such a breed and consider whether the dog fits into the personal environment. Herding dogs are not city or office dogs. It would be ideal for him to have a large property that he can guard. Since the territory of a herding dog extends as far as he can see, the property should be fenced to show him its boundaries. Herding dogs are independent personalities that require the owner to have consistency and empathy and the ability to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want other breeds, as despite their thick skulls, they are very loyal and faithful companions. Paulchen is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He possesses an EU pet passport and will only be placed after a positive assessment. Who has a big heart and a home for Paulchen? Many thanks to Johanna E.! You gave Paulchen his name and thus opened the prospect of a new life for him. Heartfelt thanks to Wolfgang M.! You support Paulchen with a monthly sponsorship. Heartfelt thanks to Ute P.! You also support Paulchen with a monthly sponsorship. As of: 30.04.

Stand: 30.04.2024

About Paulchen

What life with Paulchen looks like

Paulchen is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paulchen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paulchen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paulchen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paulchen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paulchen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paulchen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paulchen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
