Peach

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Peach was taken from a public shelter in Romania where dogs are euthanized when the shelter is overcrowded. Amidst hundreds of other dogs, the little female was extremely frightened and shaking all over. The situation there was very distressing for her. Since she was allowed to leave the shelter, Peach has shown herself to be friendly, loving, and very people-oriented towards her caregivers. She seeks closeness and enjoys affection and petting. She gets along well with the females and males she currently lives with and has already formed friendships. These observations give us an initial impression of Peach. How she behaves in a home, what everyday situations she is already familiar with, and what still causes her difficulties, we cannot say for sure. Also, a reliable assessment of her behavior on a leash, house training, or staying alone is not currently possible. Her people should therefore be willing to let her settle in peace and teach her these things from scratch if necessary. We wish Peach a home with people who enjoy getting to know her and accompanying her with patience and clear, friendly guidance. Her open and affectionate nature brings good conditions for the journey together. Nevertheless, she will need time to settle in and gain security in her new daily life. A suitable existing dog would be basically conceivable based on her previous compatibility. Whoever wants to give Peach a home should bring the desire for a cuddly companion as well as the willingness to learn with her and overcome possible uncertainties together. After a positive preliminary check, Peach may be vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, de-fleaed and with an EU pet passport against a deposit of 495 euros to move into her new home.

About Peach

What life with Peach looks like

Peach is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peach, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peach?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peach on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peach if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Peach already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peach isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peach and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
