Peanut

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Senior · 11 years

Pepper and Peanut are sweet boys who can be timid. They can be worried by new experiences and new people. Pepper is the more inquisitive of the two and Peanut gains confidence from him. Once they know you, they enjoys a gentle fuss. They would like a family that are happy to let them explore their new home and come out of their shells in their own time Pepper & Peanut are 11 year old Terrier crossbreeds who have lived quite a sheltered life so far. They are very bonded and would like to find a new home together. They are looking for a patient and understanding home that understand their nervous nature and can allow them to settle into their new home at their own pace. They have come from a home with other dogs but any dog interactions should be carefully managed as they have not been used to meeting unknown dogs. They would like to be the only pet in their new home to help them settle in. Pepper and Peanut are sweet boys but can be worried by new people so any children in the home should be of Older Secondary School age who can appreciate their nervous nature. They will need their own secure garden to provide them a safe space while they are building confidence with the outside world as it will be a while before they are ready to go on walks. Once settled leaving hours could be built up.

About Peanut

What life with Peanut looks like

Peanut is a senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Snetterton in Snetterton.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Snetterton handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Snetterton will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Snetterton early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
