Peanut

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 11 years

*July 2012 | 11 kg | ca. 38 cm | foster home near Frankfurt In this cute male dog, there is likely a piece of Kokoni. For those who do not know this wonderful breed (only registered and recognized in Greece): Kokoni's are absolute family dogs, very suitable as a single dog. He also gets along well with other dogs. Peanut can be a bit cautious at first meetings, but once he realizes that you mean him well, he quickly gains trust. A little treat can even speed this up. With patience and understanding, you will definitely gain a more than faithful companion for life. Peanut was diagnosed with leishmaniasis. This is a Mediterranean disease that is not contagious to other dogs. However, the disease should be taken seriously, as it can have serious consequences in case of an outbreak. Peanut unfortunately did not escape the last round and has shown us over the past weeks what courage and the will to live mean. Currently, he is on the road to recovery, and his values have significantly improved. If interested, more precise information about his disease course and medication can be provided. In addition to leishmaniasis, he has another issue. An old injury to the cruciate ligament initially ensured that he did not want to put weight on his right hind leg. However, this is now water under the bridge. He uses the leg almost 100% at the moment. Currently, he is receiving physiotherapy to support muscle building, and regular exercises will help him regain full functionality. Peanut is neutered and was estimated to be 10-11 years old in Germany. Currently, he lives in Erzhausen on a foster home and can be visited at any time. E-Mail: © 2022 PAW HE

About Peanut

What life with Peanut looks like

Peanut is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at og:image in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. og:image handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — og:image will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with og:image early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
