Pearl

Female Β· Senior Β· 11 years

Meet Perfect Pearl! This gentle lady has struggled in the cattery but now she has started to settle; her personality has blossomed! She loves to snuggle up on a warm lap and enjoy a pamper session. She loves a head massage and a chin rub and will nudge you with her head if you dare to stop. Pearl may be worried when she first arrives home and will need to be settled into a spare room with all her resources close by and plenty of cosy hiding places. She will likely need a day or two to settle before she is ready to make friends and it is important that owners give her this. She should be fine to live with a sensible older school aged child who understand that she is worried by noise and sudden movement and that they are not to push her into interactions she may not be ready for. Due to her sensitive nature she would benefit from having a permanent litter tray kept down for her in a private and quiet part of the home. Once settled Pearl will need outside access. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Pearl, you can e-mail our rehoming team on () to register your interest. the cat you have contacted us about.

About Pearl

What life with Pearl looks like

Pearl is a senior cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues β€” keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pearl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pearl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pearl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pearl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pearl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pearl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pearl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
