Pedro

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Meet our handsome boy Pedro, a leggy youngster around 2 to 3 years old who arrived in our care as a stray. Sadly, Pedro has been passed from place to place and has never had the stability he deserves. He is now looking for a forever home where he can finally feel safe and secure. Pedro would thrive in a quiet adult only home with a calm, predictable routine. He is an active boy who loves being on the go and is happiest when out on long walks exploring. Once he gets going, he doesn’t like to stop and will happily keep up the pace on his adventures. Although Pedro can take a little time to settle into new environments and build confidence with new people, once he feels comfortable his loving nature begins to shine through. He will need patient adopters who are happy to let him adjust at his own pace and allow him to build trust in his own time. Pedro isn’t bothered by passing dogs or traffic and enjoys taking in the world around him. He can be strong on the lead at times, but he keeps a lovely steady pace and thoroughly enjoys his walks. We feel Pedro would really benefit from positive reward based training classes. Not only will these help him continue to build his confidence, but they will also provide routine, strengthen the bond with his new family and help him settle into his new life. Pedro is ready to leave his unsettled past behind and find a family who can offer him the stability, patience and love he has been missing. In return, he will make a loyal and devoted companion for those willing to give him the chance he truly deserves.

About Pedro

What life with Pedro looks like

Pedro is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cardiff Dogs Home.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pedro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pedro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cardiff Dogs Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pedro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pedro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cardiff Dogs Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pedro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pedro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cardiff Dogs Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pedro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
