adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Pedro has found his luck! His story. Pedro is a young male dog who goes through life curiously, absorbing everything that meets him. He is playful, open, and actively seeks the company of humans. Attention is visible to him, whether during play, exploration, or simply when he is present. His start in life was anything but easy. Two female dogs, who were likely also his mother, were abandoned in a village. They found shelter in an abandoned house and lived there with their puppies, relying on what was occasionally brought to them. It was a daily struggle for survival without security. Not all puppies made it. Some were killed by larger dogs. Pedro belongs to the few who remained. An older man eventually took the dogs in and gave them the chance for a different life. From there, Pedro could come to safety. Today, he shows that he wants to use this chance. He is people-oriented, friendly, and brings a beautiful mix of curiosity and playfulness. With other dogs, he is compatible, and he already knows cats. Life in a home still awaits him. Things like house training, fixed routines, quiet periods, or walking on a leash must be learned. Puberty will also come for him – a phase where he will test boundaries and question what he has learned. With patience, clear orientation, and reliable companionship, he can develop well. Pedro is looking for people who take him seriously, give him security, and accompany him step by step into life. Pedro is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and travels with an EU pet passport. Many thanks to his namesake, Julia W., who gave him his name. Stand: 13.05.

Stannd: 13.05.2026

About Pedro

What life with Pedro looks like

Pedro is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pedro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pedro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pedro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pedro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pedro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pedro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pedro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
